In early 2021, Rio Tinto engaged Destec to provide a BOO (Build-Own-Operate) plant for the Gudai-Darri mine site to enhance processing capacity. The project scope included the design and delivery of a modular plant capable of processing 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of ore, with all systems meeting Rio Tinto’s specified requirements. Additionally, the plant was engineered for modular expansion to increase its capacity to 10 MTPA as future needs evolve, ensuring scalability and long-term operational flexibility.
